Yesterday was the Earth Day and it was an opportunity to reflect on the way in which Nannabella and our company try to weigh as little as possible on the environment.
Perhaps because of the peasant origins that belong to us (the grandparents were sharecroppers), perhaps because of an innate mentality, we have always tried not to waste, to reuse, not to consume and disperse more energy than necessary.
Respect for the environment is innate for us and sustainability is not a “new” concept, but something we have always been striving for.
Why are we sustainable ?
First of all, because , we don’t waste anything: we produce only what is ordered, without overproduction. So, zero remnants.
We try to avoid any leftover thread by sourcing the yarn strictly necessary for the season; if there are leftovers of thread we use them as overcolor (in the production process).
We produce the energy we consume ourselves, with solar panels.
The production phases take place internally, from the stain removal to the washing up to the packaging: no unnecessary transports, only the journey from our laboratory to who will receive his blanket.
Finally, we take full advantage of the sunlight that helps the mood, allows us to work better and reduce electrical consumption. The laboratory is equipped with large windows that allow natural light to enter abundantly; low thermal transmittance glasses reduce heat loss.
And that’s not all. We’re trying to come up with medium and long-term strategies to further reduce our environmental impact. With the aim of leaving on the planet only delicate traces of baby feet.
